GraLL 2, Levels 2, 3, 4, 5 and Music Groups

Wed, 24 February 2010

I just finished working on Level 5. Level 2 introduces a few obstacles, Level 3 introduces some more, and has a little puzzle, Level 4 is more puzzles with a ‘Moving Bomb corridor’ thing at the end, and Level 5 is a really fun door+one-way+switch puzzle. Seems good so far. I should just be careful not to make the first 10 levels too hard. In Level 7 the dimensions system will be introduced (you’ll find the ‘dimension switcher’ in some lab thing), after that the levels’ll get twice as fun. :D

Some pictures (I’ll upload videos of parts of these levels later):

Meanwhile I’ve also added a ‘Music Group’ system. Basically, you can group tracks into ‘groups’, with each track being assigned a ‘mood’ (like ‘calm’, or ‘intense’ etc.) within its group. Then, at any point in the level, you can set the mood of the music (irrelevant of which particular group is playing), and it fades into the track with that mood. If the tracks are the same track with subtle differenes, like an instrument in one, but not in the other, it can create a really good effect. For example, you just did this really easy part of the level, then you open this door and… Turrets! Intense music begins playing. Instant adrenalin rush! :D
