GraLL 2, User-made content
GraLL 2 now allows users to make their own content and see it in game. Currently, it supports only user-made levels. The user can make a level and put it anywhere in the ‘Content’ directory in his user directory, and GraLL 2 will find it. In-game, he can select ‘Play User Level’ in the Main Menu, and GraLL 2 will show him a list of user levels asking him which one he wants to play. Making a user level is as simple as creating one in Blender, and saving the .mesh, .ngf and .material files in the Content folder (preferably under a subdirectory to keep things organised). GraLL 2 can also look in .zip files, so if someone wants to play a level made by another player, he can simply download the .zip file and put it in the Content directory. I’m planning to add a ‘Material Viewer’ to allow users to view and edit their own material files.
I’ll write a tutorial (and maybe even record a video) explaining the user level creation process to make it easier to get started with.
Hopefully this will increase interest in GraLL 2, and at the same time allow me to concentrate on making levels and obstacles rather than textures. :-)
